PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel softball team fell to City 6 opponent La Salle on Tuesday afternoon, 2-0. The Explorers held the Dragons to just two hits on the outing, which came from Sharon Zamora and Baeley Reed. Zamora bunted for a single in the top of the third and then Reed led off the fourth with a double down the left field line.
The Explorers put their first run on the board in the top of the second, as Suzanne Swanicke reached first after being hit by a pitch and then scored on an RBI double from Bridgett Magee. La Salle would lead by one run for the majority of the game, but then added to its lead in the top of the seventh as three consecutive singles brought another run across the plate for the Explorers. La Salle was able to secure a 1-2-3 inning in the bottom of the seventh to hold the Dragons' scoreless and go on to earn a 2-0 victory.
Tara Konopka threw five strikeouts in the losing effort. She moves to 7-16 on the year with the loss.
The Dragons move to 16-26 overall, while La Salle improves to 11-21.
Drexel will return to action on Thursday as it is set to host Seton Hall for a single game beginning at 4 p.m.
