Softball Swept by Hofstra with 9-2 Loss on Sunday

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. – The Drexel softball team fell to Hofstra in the final game of this weekend's series, 9-2 on Sunday afternoon. Taylor M. Lee hit her first career home run in the Dragons' losing effort.
The Dragons took an early lead as Lee hit a two-run home run to left field with two outs in the top of the first. Hofstra would respond, however, with five runs in the bottom of the inning off of six hits. Two innings later, the Pride added three more off of RBI singles from Chloe Fitzgerald and Brielle Pietrafesa to go ahead, 8-2. Hofstra would tack on a final run in the sixth off a sacrifice fly from Nikki Michalowski. The Dragons would not be able to score in the remaining innings, allowing the Pride to walk away with a 9-2 victory.
With the loss, the Dragons move to 17-29 overall and 0-14 in conference action. Hofstra improves to 24-18, 8-6 CAA.
Next up, the Dragons will return home to host UMES for a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 2 p.m.
