Men's Soccer Falls to Delaware, 2-0

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's soccer team could not overcome a pair of first half goals by the visiting Delaware Blue Hens as the Dragons fell for a third-consecutive game, 2-0. Drexel was outshot 13-5 overall on a blustry, sometimes rainy night at Vidas Field.
Fede Prieto scored twice for Delaware, which improved to 3-0-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play. The Dragons dropped to 0-2-0 in conference with the defeat.
Prieto's first goal came in the 13th minute, as Jaime Martinez gained control outside the box on the right side. He sent a cross into the box, where Prieto connected on a header that beat Drexel goalkeeper Tyler Afflerbach to the far post. Just before halftime, in the 44th minute, Prieto made it a two-goal game. Afflerbach came up with a diving save of a Dani Laguna shot, but the rebound found its way to Prieto's toe. He collected it and fired it in to make it 2-0.
The Dragons were not without their chances despite the overall shot disparity. Just three minutes into the second half, Colin McGlynn tried a header from point blank range, but Delaware goalkeeper Todd Morton was perfectly positioned to deny the Drexel junior a score. Then in the 62nd minute, Aaron Thompson hit the post as the Dragons could not get any bounces to go their way.
Drexel will remain at home for its next game as the Dragons host UNCW on Saturday afternoon. That game will kick off at 4:00 p.m.
