Dragons Finish Eighth at Wildcat Invitational

Malvern, Pa. - The Drexel golf team finished in eighth place in its first competition of the spring at the Wildcat Invitational. The final round of the tournament was delayed due to lightning, but the teams were able to finish before dark. The Dragons shot 295 in the final round to finish at 584 in the tournament. Lehigh won the tournament, held at White Manor Country Club, with a 570, two shots better than Cleveland State.

Adam Mistretta had the best round of any Dragon on Tuesday, carving out a one-under-par 70. He finished 13th overall. Connor Schmidt finished the day with a 74 to put him at two-over-par in the tournament. The freshman was tied for 17th overall. Aaron Fricke and Mike Cook, who each were two-over-par after the opening round, finished at 148 and 149, respectively.

Delaware, St. John's and Villanova rounded out the top five. Navy was sixth at 580, while Fordham finished two shots in front of the Dragons. Drexel will be back in action starting on Sunday when the team plays in the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Invitational. That tournament will be a two-day event at Sliver Creek Country Club in Hellertown.
