SEATTLE – The Drexel men's soccer team finished off its trip to the Pacific Northwest on Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Seattle Redhawks. The Dragons were shut down offensively as Seattle allowed them just four shots in the contest.
Drexel (0-4-1) got another strong game from goalkeeper Jacob Jordan, who came up with nine saves and allowed just one goal, but that proved to be enough for Seattle (6-1-0), which played stifling defense and converted that into 32 shots on its own offensive end.
Cody Gibson scored the game's only goal on a cross in the 22nd minute. Robbie Landeros and Medo Youssef picked up assists on the score.
Xavier Bou Hernandez got off Drexel's first shot of the day in the 13th minute, an attempt that was blocked before it could make its way on goal. The Dragons would not get another look until Mathias Ebbesen got off a shot that tested Seattle goalkeeper Josh Adachi in the 83rd minute. Adachi poked it away, leading to a corner kick for the Dragons which came up empty. Erik Alexandersson added a shot in the 88th minute that also was saved by Adachi, and Robert Smith's try was blocked seconds later.
Drexel played the last 14:30 of the game down a man after Dakota Peterson was sent off with a pair of yellow cards.
The Dragons will now return home for their next outing, taking on Penn in the University City Derby next Saturday, Sept. 23, at 7 p.m. Drexel has won its last two home outings against the Quakers.
