PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's soccer team will return to action when it hosts Elon for its final regular season home match at Vidas Field. Game time is slated for 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
Freshman Lauren Currey scored her fourth goal of the season and junior Libby Baeza made nine saves in goal for her sixth shutout as the Drexel women's soccer team upset Colonial Athletic Association Northeastern, 1-0, on Thursday evening at Parsons Field. The loss gave Northeastern, who currently sits at first place in the CAA, their second conference loss of the season.
The Dragons' goal came in the 32nd minute when Currey intercepted a pass in the midfield before feeding the ball into Morgan Rees for a give-and-go to get the ball back at her foot. Once Currey collected the wall pass, she fired her shot into the back of the net past Northeastern's keeper Nathalie Nidetch to give Drexel the lead. Currey, who has been playing some of her best soccer of the year, has scored a goal in three of the last four games to bump her to second on the squad behind Shaelyn McCarty's team-leading six goals.
SCOUTING THE PHOENIX
Elon is currently 3-9-3, 1-6-0 CAA after suffering a 3-0 loss to James Madison on Thursday evening. The Dukes outshot the Phoenix 8-5 in the match and had a 6-2 advantage in the corner count. Valentina Estrada made three saves for Elon in goal.
Leading the offense for the Phoenix is Taylor Paradoski with four goals and one assist for nine points. Carson Jones has three goals and one assist on the season while Hannah Doherty adds two goals and two assists. Tori Baliatico leads the squad with three assists. In goal for the Phoenix is Estrada. Estrada holds a 3-9-2 overall record and has earned four shutouts in the past 14 games.

The last encounter between the two teams was during the 2017 campaign when the Dragons defeated the Phoenix, 4-0. Goals were scored by Imani Walker, Shaelyn McCarty, Raenah Campbell and Melissa Lyon with assists credited to Madison Dunn, Rachel Sharkey, Walker and McCarty.
