HARTFORD, CONN. - The No. 9 Drexel women's squash team was defeated by No. 2 Trinity on Friday evening, 6-3. The Dragons' three wins came from Ona Prokes, Apoorva Addepalli and Emma MacGillivray.
Strong wins came from MacGillivray, Addepalli and the highlight of the match was Prokes' excellent five game thriller. Prokes took a close first game, 11-8, before her opponent took the next game in extra points, 12-10. Prokes followed up by winning a good close third game, 11-9, before losing momentum in the fourth. Prokes established a strong lead in the fifth game to reduce resistance from her opponent, clinching an excellent win.
Fiona Power's five game loss was also a match of mention as she played well in patches but could not quite reach the finish line first in the fifth game. Showing some great form after losing the first game narrowly, Power bounced back to win the next game, 11-8. The third and fourth games went back and forth. A good start from Power's opponent, Amina Taher, gave Taher confidence, which made it a tough task for Power to claw her way back into the game. Power got a few more points on the board but could not close Taher's lead down, ultimately losing the final game.
