Women's Basketball's Aubree Brown Named USBWA National Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS - Drexel sophomore guard Aubree Brown has been named the National Player of the Week by the United States Basketball Writers Association, the organization announced on Tuesday. Brown led the Dragons to a pair of victories against James Madison and at Towson over the weekend and was nominated for the award thanks to her recognition as the Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week.
Brown, a 5-11 sophomore guard from Philadelphia, averaged 21.0 points, 4.0 assists, and 4.0 rebounds in two games. Her career-high 26 points helped lead Drexel to a double overtime upset of James Madison as the Dragons moved into a virtual tie for first in the CAA with the Dukes. She scored 20 points in the second half, including 10 in the two overtimes. Brown was again the high scorer with 16 points to help Drexel avoid an upset at Towson.
A started in each of Drexel's 28 games thus far this year, Brown is averaging 9.8 points per game and a team-best 4.5 assists a contest. Earlier this year, she put together the second triple-double in program history, scoring 10 with 11 assists and 10 rebounds in the win at the College of Charleston. Brown is the first Dragon ever to earn the USBWA's National Player of the Year award. Last season, then-freshman Ana Ferariu was named the Association's National Rookie of the Week following an 18-point performance against Saint Joseph's.
