Softball Drops Contest to Sacred Heart, 4-0

BALTIMORE, Md. – Despite outhitting the Pioneers, the Drexel softball team was unable to defeat Sacred Heart as it fell 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Hampton Inn BWI UMBC Dawg Pound Invitational.
Drexel packed the bases during two different innings of play, but the team's comeback was unsuccessful as Sacred Heart went on to score one run in four different frames to pull away with a 4-0 victory. The first run was a solo home run from Desrosiers, followed by an unearned run in the third and a reach on a fielder's choice in the sixth. The last run was scored in the seventh inning with the Pioneers second home run of the day.
The Dragon's had its second chance to slash away at the deficit by most notably placing three runners in scoring position in the bottom of the third. But after both Elena Woulfe and Megan Trivelpiece reached on a fielder's choice, Taylor M. Lee was tagged at third for the final out of the inning.
Katie Haley suffered the set back and dropped 1-2 after giving up four runs, including three earned, along with four hits.
The Dragons will return to action on Sunday, March 18 at 11:15 a.m. for their second matchup against Sacred Heart.
