PHILADELPHIA – Jenelle Ladrido hit her 100th hit to help propel the Drexel Softball team to a 8-2 comeback victory against Saint Joseph's on Wednesday afternoon at Drexel Softball Field.
The Hawks got on the board first with a single to right field to drive in two runs for the early lead in the first.
With the bases loaded and a full count, Linda Rush hit a sacrifice fly to left to drive in Jenelle Ladrido and cut the deficit in half in the bottom of the third.
Following a scoreless fourth, Drexel came back and stole the lead with a three-run homer from Kristi DiMeo. After a Saint Joseph's fielding error and a Hannah Walker single got runners on base, DiMeo stepped up and belted one out of left field for the 4-2 edge.
Using a Walker single and a couple of Hawks' fielding errors, Drexel broke the game open in the fourth and scored four runs to secure the 8-2 victory in the sixth.
DiMeo went a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a homer and three RBI while Ladrido went 2-for-3 and Walker went 3-for-4. Brooklyn Daly picked up the win in the circle. She pitched a complete game while only allowing two runs and four hits.
Drexel will return to action on Friday, May 4 for its final CAA series against James Madison at Drexel Softball Field. The Dragons and Dukes will face off in a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 2 p.m. and then round out the series with a single game on Saturday at 12 p.m.
