Tennis Preps for Pair of Road Matches this Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel men's and women's tennis return to the courts this weekend when they take on George Washington and Georgetown in a pair of road matches. Both the men's and women's teams will face George Washington on Friday, Feb. 22 at noon and Georgetown on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
Both the men's and women's team had a successful weekend with wins against NJIT and Villanova. The women's team beat NJIT and Villanova 5-2 while the men's team beat Villanova 6-1 and NJIT 5-2. Katka Majorova went 2-0 at No. 3 singles for the women and Sanil Jagtiani did the same at No. 2 singles for the men. Doubles were highlighted by pairs Juan Manuel Sanchez/Youssef Lahlou and Anisiya Simpson/Salma Ziouti who each went undefeated over the weekend.
Scouting George Washington
The men's team enters the weekend with a 2-2 record, including its most recent 6-1 loss against Liberty. The Colonels only point came from Hanyu Liu at the No. 6 spot. Nicaise Muamba plays at the top of the latter for Liberty.
The women's team has three wins on the season and a 7-0 loss to Penn State in January. The Colonels most recently defeated Navy, 4-3, to earn its third straight victory. Maria Siopacha plays in the No. 1 spot for George Washington.
Scouting Georgetown
The women's team enters this weekend with a 2-4 record, including a most recent 6-1 win against Longwood. Sofie Moenster, who plays at the top of the ladder for the Hoyas, clinched the match at 4-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over her opponent.
The men's team most recently fell to James Madison in a 5-2 battle despite clinching the early doubles point. With the loss, the Hoyas record drops to 3-3 overall. Connor Lee plays in the No. 1 spot for the Hoyas.

Men's tennis will return to action against Bucknell on Friday, March 1 at 6 p.m. while women's tennis will take on Buffalo the following day at 3 p.m.
