DiMeo Delivers Walkoff as Softball Defeats Bryant

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Drexel softball team (8-10) defeated the Bryant Bulldogs (1-20) on Saturday morning from College Park, Md. by a final of 3-2. After downing the Bulldogs on Friday, 16-3, Saturday's contest was tight with the game tied going into the final frame. Sophomore Kristi DiMeo delivered the game-winning hit, a double, to walkoff in the bottom of the seventh.

QUICK HITS
-DiMeo notched a walkoff double in the seventh to score Linda Rush.
-Rush went 1-for-2 on the day with two runs, two walks and a stolen base
-Taylor Lee had a single and two RBI
-Hannah Walker recorded a triple
-Brooklyn Daly picked up the complete game win as she pitched all 7.0 innings, allowing two hits and two unearned runs with three strikeouts.

GAMEPLAY
Drexel started the scoring in the bottom of the first. Two walks to leadoff the inning put Rush and Woulfe on first and second. A flyout moved Woulfe to third but a strikeout then led to a two-on, two-out scenario for the Dragons. Lee came through as she reached to score two runs.

After a scoreless second, Bryant responded with two runs of its own in the top of the third to even the game. The Dragons had a chance to respond in the bottom half of the inning as two singles and a walk loaded the bases with one out. But the Bulldogs were able to get out of the bases-loaded jam with the score remaining, 2-2.

In the fourth, Drexel had another chance as Walker notched a one-out triple but was stranded on third to end the inning, 2-2. In the fifth, two Dragons got on via a walk and single with two outs but could not come around to score.

Daly held the Bulldogs without a hit until Bryant's Zukowski singled through the right side in the top half of the fifth. She only allowed two in the game as she tossed the complete game.

In the seventh, Rush walked to bring up DiMeo. DiMeo recorded the walkoff double to center field to score Rush as the Dragons won, 3-2.
