Genord scores five times to lead Drexel
ALBANY, N.Y. – The Drexel men's lacrosse team suffered its second-straight one-goal loss on the road as Albany scored with 11 seconds to go to beat the Dragons, 14-13.
The Great Danes hit the post with just over a minute to play in the game, which reset the shot clock and allowed Albany to set up for the winning goal. Tehoka Naticoke found Ron John in front of the net and he fired a shot from approximately 10 yards past Drexel goalkeeper Ross Blumenthal to give Albany the lead. The Great Danes won the face-off and picked up their first win of the season.
The Dragons (0-2) took a one-goal lead on two occasions in the fourth quarter after trailing by two late in the third. Aidan Coll started the three-goal run, scoring off a feed from Matthew Varian with 1:32 left in the third. The Dragons added two more early in the fourth quarter. Collin Mailman and Nick Fox scored less than a minute apart to put Drexel up 21-11. After Albany tied it, the Dragons took a 13-12 lead when Reid Bowering found Ryan Genord and the junior rifled a shot past Nate Siekierski at the 7:28 mark. It was the fifth goal of the game for Genord, setting a new career high. Albany evened the score five minute later when Kyle Casey scored his third of the day.
