Men's Tennis Defeats Duquesne 4-1

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drexel men's tennis team completed its road trip on Sunday with a win over Duquesne, 4-1. Drexel completed the away stretch going 2-1. The Dragons improved to 5-4 while the Dukes dropped to 3-7.

The Dragons clinched the doubles point by winning the No. 1 and No. 3 matchups. Sanil Jagtiani and Xandy Hammitt won at first singles 6-3. The third-seeded matchup featuring Djordje Janackovic and Juan Manuel Sanchez ended with the Dragons coming out on top, 6-4. The second-seeded matchup featuring Gustav Wogen and Hugo Brungs went unfinished.

In singles play, the Dragons took the fourth seeded match featuring Wogen 6-1, 7-5. Xandy Hammitt had to battle in the second seeded match to win after three sets (6-4, 2-6, 6-4). In the first seeded flight, Jagtiani clinched the match with a 6-4, 7-5 victory.

Alvaro Cruz Chamorro's and Juan Manuel Sanchez's fifth and sixth seeded matches, respectively, ended unfinished.

Drexel will return to the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center to face Navy in an evening matchup on Saturday at 6 p.m.
