10/9/2021 3:03:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Chris Donovan scored a pair of first half goals en route to his first career hat trick as the Drexel men's soccer team claimed a non-conference win against the UMass Lowell River Hawks on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field.
Prior to the game, the Dragons honored eight seniors, Anthony Amore, Chris Carroll, Stephen Kopsachilis, Rafael Mariano, Adrian Edo Martin, Patrick Murphy, Adam Nork and Cameron Sanders, for their efforts to the program.
Donovan got the scoring started in the 16th minute when he placed a ball into the top left corner, past the UML keeper, off a feed from Yassine Elkahloun. 13 minutes later, Donovan took care of things himself, driving a ball into the back of the net on an individual effort for a 2-0 Drexel lead.
In the second half, Elkahloun found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to up the edge to 3-0. Donovan then fired his third of the match home at the top of the 61st minute, striking into the top of the cage, coming off a feed from Kyle Tucker.
The goals are Donovan's sixth, seventh and eighth of the season, tying him for second place in the Colonial Athletic Association.
The Dragons return to action on Tuesday, October 12, making the trip across University City to take on Penn. Opening tap is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
