Donovan Named Philadelphia Inquirer Men's Soccer Performer of the Year

PHILADELPHIA – Chris Donovan of the Drexel men's soccer team has been named the Philadelphia Inquirer Men's Soccer Performer of the Year. The Paoli, Pa. native had a stellar senior year for the Dragons, leading the team to their second-consecutive CAA tournament appearance for the first time since 2012 and 2013. The Dragon is the first player in program history to win the award.
Donovan, a Sport Management Major, has compiled an impressive resume in 2021. The forward earned Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Year Honors and All-CAA first-team honors. Donovan was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 first team, the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and he was a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award.
Donovan led the 2021 Dragons with 12 goals and a pair of assists, pushing his career total to 30 goals and 73 points, just five points shy of 10th in the Drexel record book.
The PhillySIDA All-Area teams are voted on by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
