Field Hockey Set to Face JMU in CAA Semifinals

PHILADELPHIA, Pa - The Drexel women's field hockey team opens the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Championships on Thursday afternoon at Rullo Stadium in Newark, Del. The Dragons will compete against the top-seeded James Madison University starting at noon.
The Dragons return to the tournament for the first time since 2016 after compiling a 5-5 overall record and a 3-3 mark in conference play. Drexel was the only CAA team to reach double digit games this season and currently ranks second in the CAA in assists per game (1.50) while ranking third in scoring average (1.80), saves per game (5.10) and save percentage (.718).
The Freshman duo of Eline Di Leva and Shannon Tringola currently lead the Dragons' offense, accounting for half of Drexel's goals this season. Di Leva appeared in all 10 games for the Dragons, recording six goals and four assists for a team-high 16 points. The freshman forward ranks first in the league in points (16), goals (6) and game winners (3) and second in points per game (1.60). Tringola falls just behind her with three goals on the season, including two of which she scored against Northeastern on Apr. 9. Senior Chandler McFeeley rounds out Drexel's top offensive weapons, notching two goals and three assists in her final season as a Dragon.
Drexel will face undefeated JMU who enters the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. The Dukes have outscored their opponents 16-7 this season while outscoring conference teams 12-2.
There will be no public sale of tickets for the CAA Field Hockey Championship. Attendance will be limited to families and guests of student-athletes and coaches. However, full coverage of the CAA Field Hockey Championship will be streamed on FloSports (FloSports.tv/CAA).
The winners of each semifinal game will advance to play in the CAA Championship game on Saturday, Apr. 24 at 1 p.m.
