Dragons Notch First Road Win; Shutout Columbia, 1-0

NEW YORK, N.Y. – An early goal by Chris Donovan was all that was needed as Drexel men's soccer (3-4) defeated Columbia (1-3-2), 1-0, on Tuesday night.
Drexel's only goal came in the 29th minute. Tiago Teixeira took advantage of a Lion miscue and passed it to the center of the box, where Donovan was waiting to tap the ball past the diving Columbia keeper with his right foot. It was Teixeira's second assist and Donovan's fourth goal of the season.
The Drexel defense was impenetrable throughout the game. Columbia took five shots through 90 minutes, but none of them were on target. In goal and credited with the 12th shutout win of his career was Stephen Kopsachilis. The offense kept the Columbia keeper moving as the Dragons took a total of 13 shots, eight of which were on goal.
The Dragons will return to conference play on Saturday, September 25th. Drexel will travel to Charleston, N.C., and face the Cougars in a match starting at 7 p.m. The match will be streamed on FloFC.
