Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats La Salle to Open Season, 169-131

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's swimming and diving team opened up its season with a win against the La Salle Explorers on Friday afternoon, 169-131. The Dragons finished first in 10 of 14 swimming events.
In the 200 relay, Alessio Gianni, Kacper Karnik, Jakub Kwasny and John Scully took first place. Gianni placed first in the 100 back, 200 back and 200 IM.
On the diving board, Jack Patton finished in third place for 1-meter diving with a final score of 224.18. Patton followed the 1-meter board with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 227.63.
Sebastian Smith finished first in the 50 free and 100 fly. Kacper Karnik also had an excellent start to the year with two first-place finishes. The sophomore finished first in the 100 and 200 breast. Andrea Casini also contributed with a first-place finish in the 200 free.
The Dragons will travel to Seton Hall to swim against the Pirates on November 5. The first event is slated for noon.
