Day Two of the West Virginia Invitational Concludes, Alessio Gianni Sets Program Record

Morgantown, W.Va.- The Drexel men's swimming and diving team completed day two of the three-day West Virginia Invitational on Friday night. The Dragons finished with a total of five medal finishes on the second day.
Alessio Gianni set a program record in the 400 IM, winning gold with a time of 3:51.36. His preliminary time was 3:57.72. Gianni also joined Jakub Kwasny, Kevin Spear, and Andrea Casini in the 800 free relay where they won silver with a time of 6:36.08. In the 200 free, Casini won another silver medal with a time of 1:37.48. His preliminary time was 1:37.88.
Sebastian Smith won gold in the 100 fly with a time of 47.27. His preliminary time was 47.56. Joining Smith on the top of the podium for the Dragons was Kacper Karnik who won gold in the 100 breast. His final time was 53.53 and his preliminary time was 54.05.
The 200 back, 100 free, 1650 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, and the 400 free relay will be featured in day three of the West Virginia Invitational on Saturday morning. Action is set to begin at 10 a.m. from Morgantown, W.Va.
