Drexel Remains in Second After Day Two of the CAA Championships

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. - The Drexel men's swimming and diving team held its ground on day two of the 2022 Colonial Athletic Association Championships at the Christiansburg Aquatic Center in Christiansburg, Va. The Dragons remain in second place heading into day three after winning a silver and bronze medal on Thursday.
Alessio Gianni won the first CAA Championship medal of his career on Thursday night after finishing second in the 500 free. The freshman finished with a time of 4:26.86. Xabier Carneiro placed seventh after making the A final with a time of 4:34.17 in the preliminaries.
Two Dragons represented Drexel in the A final of the 200 IM. Paris Raptis won bronze with a time of 1:47.21. Kacper Karnik earned his spot in the A final after posting a preliminary time of 1:47.79. In the finals, Karnik finished in fifth.
John Scully won the B final of the 50 free with a final time of 20.44.
The 400 medley relay team set the program record in the night's final race. Gianni, Karnik, Raptis and Scully put up a time of 3:12.29 to finish less than a second off of third place.
The 2022 CAA Championships continue on Friday. The swimming preliminaries begin at 10 a.m. The diving preliminaries pick up at 2:30 p.m. and finals will start at 6 p.m.
