MIAMI, Fla. – The Drexel softball team dropped two games on Saturday at the three-day FIU Invitational in Miami, Fla. The Dragons opened the day, falling in the first game against South Dakota, 4-0. The Dragons then faced FIU and were downed by the hosts, 3-1.
GAME ONE
The Dragons met the South Dakota Jackrabbits for the third time in program history. After defeating the Dragons, South Dakota holds a slight advantage at 2-1.
Meghan Conroy (0-1) earned the start for Drexel and went six innings. The senior allowed three runs on six hits and struck three batters out. Jessica Schable entered the game in relief and closed out the game, holding South Dakota to one run on two hits.
Sarah Clinton went 2-for-3 and accounted for the only hits in the Drexel lineup.
HOW IT HAPPENED

South Dakota hit a double to right-center in the top of the sixth, plating two runs and extending the lead to 3-0.
The final run for South Dakota came in the seventh inning. A single into center brought home a runner from second.
GAME TWO
Drexel and FIU met for the first time in program history on Saturday afternoon. After keeping the Drexel offense relatively quiet, the Panthers came away with the victory, 3-1.

The Dragons received a 2-for-3 game from Grace Abbonizio in the No. 8 spot. The junior hit two singles and was responsible for Drexel's lone run.
