Dragons Fall Short to Penn, 3-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team traveled across University City and visited the Penn Quakers for a single game on Wednesday afternoon. The Dragons (20-17) fell to the Quakers (10-24) after Penn scored three runs in the fourth inning.
The Dragons started with Jessica Schable in the circle. The junior went two innings, holding Penn to just one hit. Lindsay Nelson (4-6) entered the game in the third inning and also put in two innings of work. Megan Kyte and Brooklyn Daly pitched the fifth and sixth inning. Both faced the minimum and each fanned a batter.
Maddie Kapsimalis went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. She also scored one of Drexel's runs.
Megan Trivelpiece went 2-for-2 and was responsible for Drexel's offense. The senior hit a two-run double to right center in the fourth inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel was the first to break into the scoring column. In the fourth inning, Kapsimalis was on second and Angelina Sanchez was on first with two outs. Trivelpiece lifted a ball into right center and scored both runners to give Drexel a 2-0 lead.
The Quakers answered in the bottom of the fourth with three runs to take a 3-2 lead over the Dragons.
WHAT'S NEXT
Drexel welcomes the reigning CAA champions, James Madison for a weekend series beginning on Saturday, April 23. The two teams will play a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, Drexel will celebrate its seniors prior to the series finale against the Dukes at noon.
