Dragons Fall to James Madison in Doubleheader

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball field fell in both games of a doubleheader against James Madison on Saturday afternoon at the Drexel Softball Field. The Dukes (20-21, 9-6) took game one, 4-1, then defeated the Dragons (20-19, 4-10) in game two, 10-1.

GAME ONE

Brooklyn Daly (9-6) started in the circle and held the Dukes to four runs on seven hits. Daly fanned seven batters in the effort.

Ashley Errico went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI single.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Dukes jumped out to a quick start after hitting a single down the left line. Their lead didn't last for long. Errico hit a single down the left line and scored Sarah Clinton.

James Madison hit a double to left center in the third inning and then scored on a fielding miscue. The Dukes tacked on two additional runs in the sixth with a two-run home run.

GAME TWO

Lindsay Nelson (4-7) went five and two-thirds and fanned one hitter.

Ameryn Humble went 1-for-3 with an RBI single, which accounted for Drexel's lone run of the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED

JMU picked up its first run of the game on a throwing miscue to home plate in the first inning. Like the first game, Drexel tied the game back at one with a single through the right side by Humble. At the end of the first, Drexel and the Dukes were tied 1-1.

JMU scored nine unanswered runs to end the game in the sixth inning.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Dragons and Dukes meet in the final game of the series on Sunday, April 23, at noon. Before the start of the series finale, Drexel will honor its five seniors for their efforts and contributions to the program.
