Drexel Edged by James Madison on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA- The Drexel Dragons celebrated its five seniors before the series finale against James Madison on Sunday afternoon. The Dukes (21-21, 10-5 CAA) edged the Dragons (20-20, 4-11 CAA), 11-4, after seven innings of play.
Before the beginning of the game, Kristi DiMeo, Sarah Clinton, Brooklyn Daly, Megan Trivelpiece and Meghan Conroy were celebrated for their efforts on the diamond and contributions to the Drexel Softball program.
Daly (9-7) got the senior day nod to start in the circle for the Dragons. Daly and Conroy combined for five innings. Jessica Schable entered the game in the fifth and pitched the rest of the game, holding the Dukes to a run on one hit.
Clinton had the biggest knock of the game for the Dragons, the senior hit a three-run home run fifth inning.
HOW IT HAPPENED
James Madison scored in each inning except the third inning. In the fifth, the Dukes took an 8-0 lead and tried to enforce the mercy rule. However, Drexel broke through and hit a pair of singles down each line. With Kylee Guerrera on second and Maddie Kapsimalis on first, Clinton hit a ball to left field and chipped away at the JMU lead, 8-3. The Dragons scored their fourth run on a wild pitch in the sixth inning.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Dragons welcome the Lafayette Leopards to Vidas on Thursday, April 28, for a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled for 2 p.m., and the second game will follow.
