INDIANAPOLIS – Karson Harris of the Drexel women's lacrosse team has been selected by the Colonial Athletic Association as the conference's nominee for the prestigious NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
Harris is the first CAA nominee from Drexel since Gabriela Marginean in 2010. She is one of two nominees from the CAA and one of only 53 Division I nominees. There are more than 220,000 female student-athletes competing across all NCAA divisions.
Harris is Drexel's all-time leader in goals with 211 and is the CAA career leader in draw controls with 351. She helped lead the Dragons to their first ever CAA Championship this past spring and to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. A two-time All-American, Harris has also shined in the classroom, earning Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year honors for this season, recognizing her as the player in the Philadelphia region who combined the best on-field performance with high level academics among players from all NCAA divisions.
For 32 years, the NCAA Woman of the Year Award has honored the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of outstanding female college athletes.
