Field Hockey Opens Season at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Showing a willingness to challenge itself against the best competition, the Drexel field hockey team opened its season, being upended 7-1 by the No. 4 Maryland Terrapins on Friday night.
The Dragons kept a high-powered Maryland offense at bay early, keeping the game scoreless through the first quarter. The Terps found the back of the cage 1:49 into the second period, starting a run of three goals in a span of 6:36.
DU got on the board in the fourth when Avery Powell tallied her first goal of the season off a feed from Bri O'Donnell.
Drexel returns to Buckley Field for its home opener against City 6 rival Saint Joseph's on Friday, September 2 at 4:00 p.m.
