Scoring Surge Propels Drexel Past Army, 4-1

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Drexel men's soccer team scored four unanswered goals to defeat Army and set a season-high in goals on Tuesday night in West Point, N.Y., 4-1.
Drexel fell behind after Army capitalized on an error in the Drexel backfield in the game's third minute. After that third minute goal, the match was all Drexel. The Dragons possessed the ball for most of the match and passed the ball with near perfection.
Drexel checked in with its first goal in the 11th minute of the game. Drexel was awarded a penalty kick after a handball in the penalty box. Antonio Illuminato took the strike and gave Drexel its equalizer.
In the 24th minute, Drexel scored its game-winner on a corner. A few passes from Antonio Illuminato and Giancarlo Vaccaro centered the ball and found the head of Colin Davis, who sent it cross-goal and into the back of the net.
As the first half ended, Drexel tacked on one more goal. With 25 seconds left, Patrick Short struck the ball from outside the 18-yard box and placed the ball in the top right corner of the goal.
The Dragons put their fourth goal of the game into the back of the net in the 76th minute. Joshua Pulla took a shot on the left side of the goal and scored with ease as the Army keeper did not have time to react.
The Dragons finish conference play in the regular season on Saturday, October 21. Drexel travels to Hempstead, N.Y., to face the Hofstra Pride, who received votes in this week's coaches poll. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.
