Pien Elsen Scores the Game-Winning Goal in Double Overtime to Send the Dragons to the CAA Tournament

DEDHAM, MASS. – Pien Elsen scored a pair of goals including the game-winner in double overtime to send Drexel to the CAA Tournament. The Dragons defeated Northeastern, 3-2 on Friday evening in Massachusetts. With the victory, Drexel matched its highest win total since 2013, at 13-5, it closes out conference play at 4-2. Drexel claimed the No. 2 seed in the CAA Tournament.

The following weekend, Drexel travels for the second consecutive year to the University of Delaware for the CAA Tournament on November 3-5. The Dragons will face No. 3 William & Mary in the CAA Semifinals from Fred P. Rullo Stadium. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be streamed on FloLive($).

- After a tally by the Huskies, the Dragons earned their third penalty corner in the 25th minute. Natali Foster inserted the ball to the top of the circle for Tina Rawa as Pien Elsen scored her fifth goal of the season. Entering the half, the contest was tied at one.
- With 11 seconds left in the third frame, Val Van Hellemont had a golden opportunity in front of the cage but was stopped on a defensive save by NU. Drexel was down by one with 15 minutes left.
- Drexel decided to pull Hadfield for an extra player with over six minutes remaining. The decision paid off as Delfi Cabral tied the game with the assist from goal line extended by Pili Lemoine.
- The game entered overtime as both teams were shutout the remainder of the quarter.
- Drexel was down a player at the start of overtime due to a yellow card given with 46 seconds left in the final frame. NU kept the ball for the majority of the penalty time but the defense was able to shut them down.
- After two unsuccessful shots by the Dragons in double overtime, in the second minute, they earned their 10th corner attempt of the contest. Eline Di Leva inserted to Liz Chipman who quickly passed it to Pien Elsen, the freshman sent a rocket to the bottom left corner of the cage past the NU goalkeeper.
