El Tawil Earns Bid in ITA Super Regionals

PHILADELPHIA – Hussein El Tawil turned in a winning performance on the final day of the ITA Northeast Regional and punched his ticket to the ITA Super Regionals later this fall.
After entering the tournament pre-seeded 17-24 by the ITA, El Tawil had to win three matches to earn a spot in the Super Regional. In his path, the junior had to defeat Finn Macnamara of Buffalo. He then upset one of the top-seeded players, Aaron Sandler of Penn. Today, El Tawil drew Cheng Tang [25-32] of Buffalo and defeated him, 7-5, 6-3. The win secured El Tawil a spot in the ITA Super Regional, which features the best tennis players from around the country.
El Tawil will be joined by Alan Jesudason and Alex De Sousa, who were named one of the top teams in the northeast region by the ITA and earned an automatic bid into the super regional.
The Dragons turn their sights toward the Navy Invitational. The three day invitational will start on Friday, October 13 and end on Sunday, October 15.
