PHILADELPHIA - Kylie Lavelle of women's basketball and Yame Butler of men's basketball have been named the Drexel Dragons of the Week, presented by Rothman Orthopaedics, for the period from February 6-12, 2023.
Lavelle earned CAA Co-Rookie of the Week honors for a two-game stretch where she averaged 17.5 points per game on 50.0 percent (15-30) shooting in a pair of games for Drexel over the weekend. Lavelle led Drexel to an 86-61 victory over Charleston, scoring a game-high 28 points on 12-of-21 shooting from the floor in 24 minutes of action. The freshman forward also added seven points and two steals in the Dragons' setback against Monmouth. Lavelle's 28-point performance was her fourth game this season with 20 or more and the seventh time she has cracked double figures.
Butler saw his most significant time of the season in the last two games for Drexel and did not disappoint, averaging 16.5 points per game while shooting 10-for-18 from the floor, including 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. In a win at Delaware on Wednesday, he netted a career-high 17 points on 4-for-7 shooting and went 7-of-8 at the free throw line. On Saturday, he guided the Dragons to an overtime win against Towson, scoring 16.
