Dragons Fall in City Matchup Against St. Joseph's, 4-0

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel softball team was defeated by the St. Joseph's Hawks, 4-0, in a mid-week matchup in Merion Station.
Lindsay Nelson (1-7) started in the circle for Drexel and pitched three innings. Freshman Holly Spletzer entered the game in relief, for the first time in her career. Spletzer went two innings and held St. Joseph's to one hit in her time in the circle. Jessica Schable entered and finished the game for Drexel, also holding the home team to one hit.
Lana Mooney went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles. Savaanah Garcia also hit a pair of singles in the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hawks tallied three runs in the first inning. St. Joseph's hit a bases-clearing double off the top of the fence in left-center. The home team then scored one more run with a single to right field. At the end of the first, St. Joseph's had a three-run lead.
In the third inning, the hosts added one more with an RBI single to the right side of the field.

Drexel begins conference play on Saturday, March 18. The Dragons travel to Greensboro, N.C. to face North Carolina A&T in the Aggies' first CAA series since joining the conference.
