Drexel Upsets No. 19 Johns Hopkins, 16-11

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel upset No. 19 Johns Hopkins in a 16-11 thriller on Saturday afternoon at Vidas Field. Hayleigh Simpson led the Drexel offense with a career-high of five goals. This is the Dragons' first program win versus the Blue Jays in their eighth matchup against the B1G opponent. Additionally, this is DU's highest-ranked victory since a 20–8 defeat against CAA rival, No. 15 Towson on April 23, 2021. Drexel improved to 4-2 on the season.

- Corinne Bednarik scored three goals and found five assists for eight points. She was one assist short of tying her single-game record of six from last season.
- Bridget Finley and Grace Harding each tallied three goals. Alex Wall added a score late in the fourth quarter.
- Jenika Cuocco earned nine saves and six groundballs.
- Belle McHugh and Peighton Bement each caused two turnovers for the Dragons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- JHU started the game with three consecutive goals in the first five minutes. Drexel answered back with four consecutive goals by Simpson (2), Finley, and Bednarik to close out the quarter with a 4-3 lead.
- The trio continued their success as they scored three more goals in the first five minutes of the second frame. In the seventh minute of the quarter, Harding found the back of the net to extend DU's lead to 8-3. After a Blue Jays score to break an eight-goal comeback for the Dragons, the score at halftime stood at 8-4 Drexel.
- Johns Hopkins was issued a yellow card under ten seconds before halftime. The Dragons took advantage of the player-up situation as Simpson scored in the first 30 seconds of the second half.
- JHU cut the Drexel lead to 11-7 as the Blue Jays added three goals in the third quarter.
- With 12 minutes left of the contest, Johns Hopkins scored two goals which closed its gap to 12-9. Bednarik, Harding, Finley, and Wall earned goals in the final quarter to secure the Dragon's fourth win of the season.
