Game Two Paused Due to Inclement Weather

TOWSON, Md. – The Drexel softball team fell in game one of the three-game series against the Towson Tigers on Saturday, 9-5. The game which featured multiple home runs for Drexel, went nine innings. The second game of the doubleheader was halted in the fourth inning due to inclement weather.

Lindsay Nelson (2-9) went 8.2 innings in the first game for Drexel. The senior

Ameryn Humble went 3-for-4 at the plate hitting a home run and a double in the effort. Humble also pushed a run across the plate and scored two herself.

Lily Meuninck went 2-for-4 in the five-hole and also hit a home run. Her home run came in the top of the eighth to give Drexel the lead.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Drexel jumped out to a quick lead in the first inning. Humble stepped up to the plate with two outs and sent the ball over the fence. In the second inning, Izzy Alamillo hit a two-run single into left field and scored Kylee Guerrera and Mia Garza.

Towson scored once in the bottom of the second and third to cut the deficit to one but Drexel continued to hit the ball. The Dragons scored once more in the fifth to have a two-run lead. Meuninck dumped a ball into left field and scored Humble.

In the bottom of the fifth, Towson tied the game up at four and it would stay locked until the eighth inning. Meuninck hit the second home run of the season and gave Drexel the lead once more.

Towson reciprocated the home run by hitting one themselves in the bottom of the eighth to tie the game once more. Towson then finished the game with a grand slam in the ninth to earn the victory.

WHAT'S NEXT
Drexel and Towson will reconvene on Sunday to pick up the second game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Currently, Towson leads Drexel, 4-2. After game two is finished, the series finale will be played 30 minutes later. First pitch on Sunday is slated for noon.
