Dragons Fall in Doubleheader Against UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Drexel softball team was defeated in a doubleheader by the UNCW Seahawks on Saturday. The Seahawks took game one in five innings, 9-1, then followed up with a victory in game two, 4-1.
UNCW scored eight runs in the first inning. Drexel scored its only run of the game in the fifth inning as Madison Gaylse singled up the middle and scored Devyn Demchak.
In game two, UNCW scored three runs in the first inning. All three runs were unearned for Lindsay Nelson, who completed the second game with just one earned run and three strikeouts. More impressively, the senior worked out of multiple jams and stranded five UNCW runners.
The Dragons scored their run on a fielder's choice that was tossed away at second. Errico scored on the play.
Drexel returns to Boseman Field on Sunday to finish the series against UNCW. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
