Smith Named CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. – Sebastian Smith of the Drexel men's swimming and diving team was named the Colonial Athletic Association's Rookie Swimmer of the Year on Thursday afternoon. In addition, the conference recognized all medal finishers at the conference championships as All-Conference athletes.

Smith claimed the silver medal in the 100 free at the CAA championship with a time of 43.67. He also finished fifth in the 100 fly (46.91), 10^th in the 200 IM (1:48.12) and was a member of Drexel's 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams that placed fourth. Smith recorded the most points of any freshman at the CAA Championship and became Drexel's second straight Rookie Swimmer of the Year honoree.

The conference also recognized all medal finishers at the conference championships as All-Conference athletes. For Drexel, a total of 14 athletes won atleast one medal at the four-day event. Leading the way for the men's side was Jakub Kwasny with five medals and for the women, Chelsea Gravereaux hauled in two pieces of hardware.
