Smith Makes History as Men's Swimming and Diving Win Three Gold Medals on Day Three of CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. – Sebastian Smith made program history Friday night, becoming the first swimmer in Drexel history to qualify for the NCAA Championships as the Dragons captured three gold medals at the 2026 CAA Championships. Drexel remains in third place with 467.5 points through three days of competition.
Smith won the 100 butterfly in 46.17 to secure his NCAA berth. He will represent Drexel at the NCAA Championships in Atlanta, Georgia, from March 25–28.
Theo Andreopoulos won gold in the 100 backstroke with a school-record time of 47.87. After earning silver in the event last season, Andreopoulos moved up one spot to claim the conference title.
Roko Krpina earned bronze in the 400 individual medley with a school-record time of 3:48.45.
Matas Cinga secured silver in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 1:36.00.
Mark Eszes added a bronze medal in the 100 breaststroke with a school-record time of 52.94. Bartosz Loter placed sixth, while Alex Blacker finished 11th and Joseph Pollock placed 16th.
Drexel closed the night with a gold medal in the 200 freestyle relay. Theo Andreopoulos, Sebastian Smith, Declan Egger, and Petar Pavalic combined for a winning time of 1:18.17.
In three-meter diving, Joshua Gratton placed seventh and Simon Huth finished eighth in the championship final. Milo Whitbeck placed 10th.
Through three days, Drexel has earned 11 medals, including six gold, and set five school records.
