Marano Earns her First Career Goal in a 12-5 Victory over Elon

PHILADELPHIA – Kate Marano scored her first career goal in Drexel's 12-5 victory over Elon on Friday afternoon. The Dragons improved to 8-4 and earned their second win in conference play (2-2).

The Dragons face Temple on Wednesday, April 12 from Howarth Field. The opening draw from ESPN+ will be at 5:00 p.m.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Corinne Bednarik earned a hat trick, five draw controls, and two ground balls in the contest.
- Five players tallied for Drexel including Grace Harding (3), Hayleigh Simpson (3), Lindsey Dean, and Marano.
- DU won the draw control battle and was successful on 14 of 21 draws. Camryn Ryan picked up five DC's.
- Belle McHugh and Alli VanSlyke each caused three turnovers.
- Bednarik scored in the third minute on her 29th tally of the season. After an Elon equalizer, Weygand and Harding added unassisted goals. Drexel picked up two more goals and ended the opening quarter up 5-2.
- The defense held the Phoneix scoreless in the second quarter. After a Harding goal with six seconds left, DU entered halftime with a 9-2 lead.
- EU was successful on three free positions but DU snuck three shots past the keeper including Marano's first to extend its lead to seven into the final period.
- The final quarter was a defensive battle as both teams were shut out. Cuocco earned two saves and Drexel caused three turnovers.
The Dragons face Temple on Wednesday, April 12 from Howarth Field. The opening draw from ESPN+ will be at 5:00 p.m.
