Cuocco Earns Record Seventh CAA Rookie of the Week Nod

PHILADELPHIA - Jenika Cuocco of women's lacrosse team has been named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the week of May 1. She sets a new CAA women's lacrosse record with her seventh honor this season. This is the sophomore's fourth consecutive week being honored by the conference.
This weekend against Monmouth, Cuocco anchored the Drexel defense to overcome a halftime deficit which clinched a spot in Thursday's CAA Semifinal contest. The sophomore found 12 saves and picked up a ground ball in a 19-14 victory on Saturday at Vidas Field. After allowing 11 goals in the first half, Cuocco earned eight saves in the second half and only gave up a trio of goals. Her efforts secured DU's fifth CAA victory of the season which closed out the Dragon's regular season record to 12-4. The Sound Beach, N.Y. native leads the conference in save percentage at 53.3% which is currently second in Division One. Additionally, Cuocco is among the top 12 in D1 in goals against average (9.08/game) and saves (163).
No.3 seed, Drexel battles the No. 2 seed, Towson in the CAA Championships on Thursday, May 4 from Tiger Field. The opening draw on LacrosseTV will be at 2:30 p.m.
