Bednarik and Cuocco Named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA – Corinne Bednarik and Jenika Cuocco have been named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area as announced by Philly-SIDA and voted on by the sports information directors in the region.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be in their sophomore year or higher and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30. The award encompasses all three levels of NCAA athletics and is open to all Philadelphia region schools.
The CAA Attacker Player of the Year, Bednarik led Drexel with 47 goals and 23 assists for a career-high 70 points this season. The redshirt senior picked up 34 groundballs and a team-high 75 draw controls. Additionally, she was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-America, IWLCA First Team All-Region, and First Team All-CAA. She had nine games this season with three or more goals, including the program's first victory against No. 19 Johns Hopkins. Bednarik was honored as the USA Lacrosse Magazine Player of the Week on March 7 for her three goals and five assists against the Blue Jays.
Cuocco was the CAA Rookie and Goalkeeper of the Year, finishing fourth in Division One with a 53.2 save percentage and 11th with an average of 10.28 saves per game. The redshirt freshman earned the CAA Rookie of the Week for a conference record seven times. Additionally, she was named USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-America and First Team All-CAA. On April 25, Cuocco was awarded the IWLCA Co-Defensive Player of the Week after she stopped twelve shots in an 18-6 victory over Hofstra. The Long Island, N.Y. native closed out the year with 185 saves and allowed an average of 9.21 goals per game.
