SPARKS, Md. - Drexel Mary Semanik Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Katie O'Donnell and assistant coach Katrina Geiger are competing in the upcoming summer season of Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse. The games will take place at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md., spanning from July 20 to August 13. Both O'Donnell and Geiger have been part of the league for three seasons now.
Athletes Unlimited Lacrosse features a range of scoring innovations to bring athletes and fans a unique and intense version of the sport. Individual athletes earn points based on both team wins and individual performance and become champions in team sports. In addition, teams change each week, with the top four athletes in the standings serving as captains and drafting their teams. At the end of the five-week season, the player with the most points is crowned as the individual champion.
As a player, O'Donnell was named an IWLCA First Team All-American as a senior at Penn State in 2018 and remains fourth on the Nittany Lions career goals list and is sixth in career points. This past season, O'Donnell guided the Dragons to a 12-6 record, which tied their win total from 2022. Drexel secured an at-large bid for the program's third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
During her collegiate career, Geiger was a two-time captain for Loyola University and played on five teams that advanced to the NCAA Championships. In her first season at Drexel, Geiger led the defensive unit to an impressive 13th ranking in scoring defense, allowing only 9.28 goals per game.
