WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Patrick Short scored his first goal in a Drexel uniform as the Dragons forged a 1-1 tie in CAA play at the Monmouth Hawks on Saturday night.

In the 81st minute, Joshua Pulla came through the midfield and passed the ball down the right to Ben Weller. Weller took a shot from inside the area that was blocked. The sophomore recovered the ball and sent it to the top of the box where Short one-timed it. The shot went off the underside of the crossbar and across the line.

The lead held until the waning seconds of the match when the Hawks scored on a rebound from a free kick.

Overall in the match, Alessandro Capogna kept DU in it, making a season-high eight saves.

Drexel is next in action on Tuesday, September 19 when it hosts local rival Temple. Opening tap from Vidas Field is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
