Vaccaro Helps Dragons Blank Elon, 1-0

PHILADELPHIA – A goal in 76th minute by Giancarlo Vaccaro lifted the Dragons over Elon on Saturday at Vidas Field, 1-0. The Dragons completed their second shutout win of the season to notch three points in conference play.
The first half of the match was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams taking three shots a piece. After both teams returned to the pitch for the second half, it seemed as if it was going to be identical to the first.
However, a nicely played ball by Carles Aliberch set Vaccaro up to finish the play outside the 18-yard box. With one touch, Vaccaro beat a defender and took a shot, notching the second goal of his junior campaign.
Alessandro Capogna started in the net for the Dragons and made one save on the way to the eighth clean sheet of his career.
Drexel continues its non-conference slate on Tuesday, September 26th as the NJIT Highlanders visit Vidas Field. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
