WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – A goal by freshman defender Julian Jordheim in the 89th minute of the crucial conference matchup against William & Mary evened the score at two and sent Drexel home to Philadelphia with a point in conference play.
William & Mary earned its first goal of the game in the sixth minute of the game and that was all that the two teams could piece together, as Drexel took five shots, four on target, and the Tribe took four shots, all being on target.
Returning from the locker rooms after halftime, Drexel took one minute and seven seconds to tie the game at one. Dominick Bachstein finished a play that was started by Ben Weller. The goal was Bachstein's fourth of the season and Weller's second assist of the season.
William & Mary took the lead with nine minutes remaining. But too much time was left on the clock for Drexel's overpowering offense. Carles Aliberch played a ball onto Jordheim who scored his fourth goal of the season and secured the tie and conference point for Drexel.
The Dragons currently sit at eight points in conference play, which is second-best, prior to the night matches being played.
Drexel returns to action on Saturday, October 7 at 1 p.m., as the Delaware Blue Hens will come to West Philadelphia to take on the Dragons.
