Dragons Place Third at ODU/OBX Intercollegiate

Powells Point, N.C. - The Drexel golf team fired a 3-under-par 281 on Tuesday and concluded the ODU/OBX Intercollegiate in third place overall. Drexel had its best day of the tournament at the Kilmaric Golf Club. Drue Nicholas was Drexel's top individual performer. The senior finished in second place overall at 8-under par.
Drexel finished six strokes behind Georgetown. The Hoyas won the event by shooting 6-under par. Old Dominion, the host institution, placed second at 2-under par. The Dragons were three strokes better than Saint Joseph's, who finished in fourth place on the 6,554-yard, par-71 course. He finished three shots behind Justin LaRue of Longwood for medalist honors.
Nicholas once again showed why he is one ot the most consistent performers in the Northeast. He played all three rounds under par and had a 68 in both the second and third rounds. This was the fourth appearance in the ODU/OBX Intercolleigate for Nicholas. He won the event twice and was runner up on two other occasions. His combined score in four tournaments was 33-under par. Nicholas shot 5-under-par on the par three holes which led the field. Teammate Kevin Lydon was tied for second in that category at 3-under par.
Caleb Taylor played his final round in 1-under par. Taylor tied for 14th overall at even par (213). Senior Andrew Wallace had a nice bounce back round to finish the tournament. He also played the final 18 holes in 1-under par. John Keba had a 73 on Tuesday, while Lydon shot 75.
The Dragons will have a short turnaround as they play in the Big 5 Championships on Thursday afternoon at Aronimink.
