STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Drexel women's softball team was defeated by the Stony Brook Seawolves on Saturday afternoon in Stony Brook, N.Y., 10-1.
Allison Hoppe (4-8) started in the circle and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing seven runs on five hits. Four runs were charged to her line. In relief, Natalie Alldred pitched 2.2 innings allowing three runs on six hits.
Drexel scored its lone run in the first inning on a first-and-third situation. With Abbonizio on third and Garza on first, the latter intentionally wound up in a rundown and made it last long enough for Abbonizio to cross the plate.
Stony Brook scored three runs in the first inning and then piled on seven more in the second to take the 10-1 lead.
Drexel returns to Long Island for one more game against the Seawolves on Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.
