ELON, N.C. – The Drexel softball team was defeated by the Elon Phoenix, 8-0, on Thursday afternoon.
Lindsay Nelson (9-13) pitched for the Dragons in the series-opener. The senior went 4.2 innings, conceding eight runs.
Six different Dragons recorded a hit on Thursday afternoon. Grace Abbonizio, Izzy Alamillo, Kalea Calugay, Lily Meuninck, Ashley Errico and Lindsey Hunt all checked in with a knock.
Elon scored three runs in the first inning to jump out to a quick lead. In the second, the Phoenix added a run to push their lead to four. The home team then pushed its lead to eight with four runs in the fifth inning.
Drexel wraps up the regular season on Friday with a doubleheader against the Phoenix. The first game is slated for 2:30 p.m.
