Laine McGurk Named Big 5 Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA - The Big 5 has announced that Laine McGurk is their Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
McGurk led the Dragons to a 2-0 start with standout performances against Pitt and Marist. McGurk combined for 48 points on the week, highlighted by a career-high 33 points in a season-opening win over Pitt, Drexel's first victory over a Power 4 school since 2022. She shot .684 (13-for-19) from the field with five three-pointers and five rebounds in that game. The West Chester native then added 15 points and six rebounds in a win over Marist.
Drexel begins the home slate of the 2025-26 season on Wednesday, Nov. 12. The Dragons welcome the Penn Quakers to the Daskalakis Athletic Center for the first time since December 21, 2018. It will be the first time the two teams have met since December 20, 2019.
