CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Drexel softball team was defeated, 10-1, by the George Mason Patriots on the final day of the Tar Heel Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

Violet Marta started the game in the circle and pitched two innings, allowing three runs. Madison Taylor entered the game in relief and also pitched two innings, allowing three runs. Sidney Toukonen entered the game in the fifth and went two-thirds of an inning.

Drexel picked up two hits. One from Izzy Alamillo and the other from Lana Mooney. Mooney's double in the third inning scored Alamillo to tie the game at one. The Patriots took back the lead in the bottom of the third, before scoring seven runs in the fifth.

Drexel returns to action on February 28 in Lynchburg, Va. to play in the Liberty Invitational. The Dragons will open the invitation against Georgetown and the Flames. The Dragons play the Hoyas again to open day two and Appalachian State in the latter part of the doubleheader. The Dragons play Lehigh to close their final tournament of the season.
