Dragons Upended on Day Two of Runnin' Bulldog Classic

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. – The Drexel softball team was defeated in a pair of games on Saturday afternoon. The Dragons fell to Howard in game one, 4-1, then was defeated by the hosts, Gardner-Webb, 10-0.
Game One
Madison Taylor (0-2) pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on two walks and four strikeouts. Taylor was able to strand eight Bison runners on base in the effort.
Five Dragons all recorded a hit for Drexel. Mia Garza, who went 1-for-3 was responsible for Drexel's lone run, hitting a solo home run in the seventh inning.
Howard scored a run in the first and second innings, then tacked on insurance runs in the fourth and the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, Garza hit her first home run of the season to pull within three. But the Bison set the Dragons down in order after that to end the game.
Game Two
Violet Marta (0-1) started game two against the hosts and went 4.1 innings and struck out five batters.
Lana Mooney went 2-for-3 in game two with a pair of singles.
Tia Shikar, Mia Garza and Kylah Reading all checked in with singles against the Bulldogs.

Drexel returns to Gardner-Webb for a single game on Sunday morning. The Dragons are set to play Gardner-Webb once more at 11 a.m.
